Instructions for a correct use of the needle:
Instructions for Use
- Screw the needle onto the pen
- Select the dose to inject
- Give the injection using the technique recommended by your doctor. When the needle is inserted, press the button and wait 10 seconds before pulling it out.
- Pull the needle out gently and dispose of according to the regulations in force.
Injection technique:
It is important to inject the insulin with the right technique. Insulin delivery should not be done by intra-muscle injection. One technique that can help avoid an injection into the muscle is that of the pinch.
- Select the injection site as recommended and pinch the skin with your thumb, forefinger and middle finger.
- It is important to lift only the skin and not the underlying muscle.
- Keep the fold at the injection site throughout the administration. Slowly remove the needle while releasing the grip at the same time.
Where to inject:
In most cases insulin is self-administered, it is therefore recommended to inject into the following 4 sites: abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms.
- Abdomen: carry out the injection at a distance equal to a palm of your hand from the navel, avoiding moving laterally, where the subcutis is smaller.
- Thighs: only in the anterior lateral area.
- Buttocks: they are in the upper external area, avoiding touching the sciatic nerve.
- Arms: only in the upper external part, where the subcutis is greater and the risk of touching the muscle is lower. It is recommended to number the injection sites and use them in rotation, clockwise.
